Food and wine writer from Mumbai, India.
In the last 20 years have eaten at, and written about, most of Mumbai’s restaurants.
Adventurous eater who will try anything once.
Am particularly fond of carpaccio, pork chow mein, foie gras, Frankies, strong coffee, scrambled eggs, bhel puri.
Love craft beers, IPA, Italian Pinot Grigio, Super Tuscans and reds from Puglia, New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, and Burgundy Chardonnays, smoky Single Malts and most Gins.
Don’t have a sweet tooth, but love kala jamuns, mishti doi and chenna payesh.
Amateur gardener. Grow chillies, tomatoes, bell peppers, basil and curry leaf in my balcony garden.
Good cook. Like simple easy, recipes; but don’t mind getting down and dirty with a complicated recipe once in a while. Also obsessively photograph every restaurant meal.
Have more frying pans, knives and bottles of olive oil than most Indian households.
Often compared to Anton Ego. Occasionally asked if related to Zakir Husain, AR Rahman, Raj Kamal Kha and frequently mistaken for Taufiq Qureshi.
Not a foodie.

Hi Ashish
You’ve got to click on the follow by email tab at the top right of the page. I don’t think wordpress allows you to sign up, but I’m new to this, so I’m not absolutely sure. 🙂

Antoine, thanks for wonderful informative site here and your article “Colaba restaurants are back in vogue”. I shall contact you also about this article…again, I really enjoyed your knowledge about Mumbai Restaurants. The culture of Mumbai is fascinating and the oldest establishments still going strong, this is what is so interesting about this Great City!!

Heard a lot very unassuming personality and passionate in his work. Are there any books by Antoine Lewis on authentic Goan/ Portuguese cooking

Hi, no unfortunately not and unlikely to be – I don’t believe in the notion of authenticity. Cuisines are ever shifting and constantly in a state of flux. But I can point you out to some good books
